A Slowdown in Vehicle Production
As of February, automotive suppliers have been warning automakers that they may run out of parts used for vehicle production in the United States, especially electronic components. China’s vehicle production has been hit the hardest due to the virus, causing a major disruption in the global supply chain. 10% of the United States’ auto parts imports come from China including key components such as electric signaling parts, airbag inflators, safety glass, mirrors, seats, locks, and much more.
How Collision Repair Shops are Adjusting
With COVID-19 causing fewer people to be on the road, there are fewer accidents that occur. This has led many auto body repair shops to rely on their other services. Collision repair shops have had to rework their business operations to provide more contact-less services such as over the phone payments and vehicle pick-up/drop-offs. It’s convenient, easy, and promotes social distancing!
